Martha Lucille Henson, 87, a native and long-time resident of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at the home of her son in Defiance, Missouri.
Mrs. Henson was born Dec. 26, 1924 in Mentone, Ala. She graduated from Qulin High School in Qulin, Mo. Mrs. Henson received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arkansas State University, and her Master's Degree from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and had retired as a 6th grade school teacher. Mrs. Henson enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, dancing, art and music.
Her husband, John Lazarus Henson preceded her in death on July 20, 2011.
Survivors include her children, Dr. John L. Henson, III, of Sacramento, Calif., Martha Corbin, of Portland, Oreg., Susan Young of Atlanta, Ga. and Keith W. Henson, of Defiance, Mo.; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pirtle officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
