Mary Theresa (Koehler) Billington

Mary Teresa BIllington, 88, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at her home.

Mrs. Billington, the daughter of the late Edward and Ameria Koehler, was born June 7, 1931 in St. Louis, MO.  She was one of eight children.  On May 19, 1948, she married Harry Billington in Piggott, Arkansas.  They were happily married for 67 years until his passing in 2015.  Together they built a family of seven children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was well known by her family and friends for her cooking.  She enjoyed reading but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and an active member of St. Anne’s Alter Society.

Mrs. Billington has six surviving children:  Kathleen Clubb, Linda Smith, Debora Rayburn, Harry Atlee (Skip) BIllington, Jr., Eric Billington, and Rebecca Deering. She is also survived by a grandson she helped raise, Tony Greer, and held a close relationship with her daughter-in-law Donna Billington, and her son-in-law, Dan Deering.

Mrs. Billington was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Billington, Sr., her son, Robert Billington, a grandchild, Amelia Baker and a great-grandchild, Lakota “Codie” Eldridge.

A private graveside service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Friday, June 5, 2020. Deacon David Farris will serve as Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her memory.
