Mary Frances Cumbee, 89, of Paducah, Kentucky. formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Mrs. Cumbee was born April 7, 1923, in Teapot Dome, Wyoming. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff for over 50 years, and along with her late husband, Ed, had owned and operated Cumbee Fabrics in Poplar Bluff for many years. Mrs. Cumbee enjoyed spending time with her family, painting and quilting. She was also an avid reader.
On Jan. 15, 1945, she married Everett ""Ed"" Lee Cumbee in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1996.
Survivors include three children, Jim Cumbee (Emily), of Brentwood, Tennessee, Nancy Nance (Tom), of Paducah, Kentucky, and Gloria Cheney (Wally), of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Her parents, James Duncan and Clista Mohan Duncan, and two brothers, Harold Duncan and James Duncan also preceded Mrs. Cumbee in death.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with long-time family friend, Pastor Jim Freedman officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
