Mary Dell Johnson

Mary Dell Johnson, 79, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, May 1, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 28, 1929 in Holcomb. She was a member of New Home General Baptist Church, and had retired from the Poplar Bluff R-1 School System. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed spending time with her family, attending family reunions, going to flea markets, crocheting, gardening and doing geneology research.

On Dec. 20, 1947 she married Carl T. Johnson in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death in April of 1992.

Survivors include five children: Carl Ray Johnson and wife Fay, of Poplar Bluff, Howard Glenn Johnson and wife Sherrie of Augusta, Kans., Cindy Lynn Woods, of Poplar Bluff, Pamela Jane Brown and husband Cletus, of Harviell and Brenda Fay Menley and husband John, of Fayetteville, Ga.; five grandchildren: Paulina, Rockland, Whitney, Kaitlin and John Cameron; six great-grandchildren: Zackary, Joshua, Marco, Dominic, Mia and Noah; a sister, Evelyn Ladd of Calif.; and a brother, Billy Ward of Wardell.

Her parents, Charley and Pearl (Stallion) Ward also preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery
