Mary L. Dunson, 80, of Broseley, Missouri passed away Friday, April 25, 2014.
Mary was born April 9, 1934, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Finn Ewing and Roberta Clark. At a young age she professed her belief in Jesus at Pullman Temple, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In 1952, she graduated from Dunbar High School in Little Rock. She then moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she met Walter C. Dunson Jr. They were married in 1953 and remained happily married for 60 years. To this union three children were born, Darnell (Laquisha) Dunson, Walter C. Dunson Jr. (whom preceded her in death), and Kevin Dunson.
In 1985, Mary and Walter moved to Broseley, Missouri, and were active members of New Home Missionary Baptist Church. Mary was the adult teacher and mother at the church.
Her husband, Walter L. Dunson, has been waiting for her since January 11, 2014. Other family members who preceded her in death are her parents, one brother, Finn Ewing III, one sister, Doris Jean Babbitt-Perdergraft, stepbrother, Elgin Bennett Jr., grandson Dennis T. Cooper Jr., and sister-in-law, Helen Young Elbe Dunson.
She leaves to mourn two brothers, Ronald (Clarissa) Bentley and Donald (Dawn) Bentley; one sister, Gloria (Keith) Turner, sister-in-law, Louise Ewing, brother-in-law Ray Pendergraft, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, at New Home M.B. Church in Broseley, with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. The Rev. Andrew Jefferson will officiate and present the eulogy. Burial will be at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. A repass dinner will immediately follow at the church.
