Mary Joan Dickerson

Mary Joan Dickerson, 84, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Friday, September 05, 2025, at Puxico Nursing and Rehab.

Mary Joan was born on June 25, 1941, in Morehouse, MO, where she was raised by her grandmother, Adelaide Dunfee. She married Robert "Bob" Dale Dickerson on July 27, 1957, also in Morehouse.

Mary Joan was a member of First United Methodist Church of Poplar Bluff. She graduated from Morehouse High School as Valedictorian of her class, while pregnant with her first-born child, Teri. She also graduated from Three Rivers Community College with an associate’s degree. Mary Joan later owned and operated Kids & Co. with her husband for thirteen years. She had a witty and lively personality and could be quite amusing at times. Mary Joan was known for her amazing cooking and baking abilities, especially her Chess pie. Not only was her cooking top notch, but she also took great pride in hosting. She was always sure to have the perfect table setting and even taught her children the proper way to lay out silverware and dishes. Mary Joan loved her family fiercely. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.

Mary Joan is survived by three children, Dale (Robyn) Dickerson, Teri (Steve) Cobb, and Tracy (Jace) Huffman; six grandchildren, Natalie (Aaron) Stucker, Cole (Jazlyn) Dickerson, Lauren Dickerson, Ryan (Rachel) Cobb, Bradley (Jill) Cobb, and Cody (Rebekah) Samuelson; eleven great-grandchildren; half-brother, Peter Manton.

Mary Joan is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Bob Dickerson; half-brother, Lester Manton.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 08, 2025, from 10:30a-12:00p at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at noon with Pastor John Gregory officiating. Burial will take place at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
