Mary E. Richie

Mary E. Richie, 76, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis.

Ms. Richie was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Heth, Ark. A former L.P.N. with Doctor's Hospital, in Poplar Bluff she also served as a nurse for Tri-County Healthcare. Ms. Richie was a member of El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, in Neelyville. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed cooking as well as collecting coins and stamps.

Survivors include five children, Regina Richie-Long, of Dallas, Tex., Raymond Richie, LaVelma Ballard-Little and Sylvia Ballard, all of St. Louis and Ray Charles Ballard, of Malden; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roosevelt Ballard, of Poplar Bluff; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13th , in the chapel with Pastor Christine Ballard-Grandberry officiating. Burial will be at the Neelyville Cemetery, in Neelyville.
