Maxine Larue Moore, age 92, of Poplar Bluff, MO entered her heavenly home on Monday, October 13, 2014 from Westwood Hills Nursing Center. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, thoughtful sister, nurturing grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and love.
Maxine was born to Byrd and Arrie Casey on December 17, 1921. She married Marvin Moore on February 12, 1938 in Greenville, Missouri. He preceded her in death in June, 1961.
Maxine was a member of New Home General Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff. She also attended church with her family at the First Church of God of Poplar Bluff and Faith Baptist Church of Wappapello.
Maxine retired from Gossard Garment Factory. Maxine enjoyed quilting, watching hummingbirds, working puzzles, the St. Louis Cardinals and Three Rivers Raiders games and spent many hours going to watch her family in sporting, church and school activities.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Moore (Lana) of Poplar Bluff, daughters, Evelyn Johnson McFarlen (John) of Broseley, Linda Kirkley (Ted) of Poplar Bluff and daughter-in-law, Sharon Moore Poe (Don) of Poplar Bluff.
Grandchildren Bob Johnson, Ron (Susie) Johnson, Steve (Karen) Johnson, Mike (Ruby) Johnson, Jeff (Kim) Moore, Jennifer (John) Settle, Mark (Mary) Kirkley, Rick (Julie) Kirkley, Cheryl (Daniel) Lorentz and Tom (Donna) Moore, all of Poplar Bluff and Tammy (Bruce) Mouncey of St. Joseph, Missouri.
Sisters, Syble Emerson, Ahmalee Barks, Norma Mondy, all of Poplar Bluff and Iva Rowland of St. Charles, Missouri.
Also surviving are 22 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, James Moore, a son-in-law, Claude Junior Johnson, a grandson, Kevin Kirkley, a great grandson, Billy Johnson, brothers, James Casey and Lester John Casey, and a sister, Pauline Pollard.
Throughout her life she maintained an independent and simple demeanor. She was a giver of her continual presence to family and friends. She won the trust and hearts of many who would testify they were inspired by her example of nurturing love and faithfulness. She had a joking personality and her way of honestly expressing her thoughts will always be treasured and remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Services will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel with Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at Rucker Cemetery in Wayne County.
