Maymie Gertrude Campbell, 89, of the Stringtown community of Butler County, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Campbell, daughter of the late Joshua A. "Dolph" and Gertrude H. (Barbour) Carnahan, was born Aug. 2, 1926 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Kerns Chapel Church in Stringtown and was a homemaker. Mrs. Campbell enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family.
On Oct. 24, 1945, she married Ralph Omer Campbell at the Butler County Courthouse in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2003.
Survivors include three children: Ralph O. Campbell of Poplar Bluff, John E. Campbell of Ashburn, Ga. and Terry R. Campbell of Poplar Bluff; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Lola Mae Cook, a son, David L. Campbell, three sisters, Fern Edwards and Eloise Longhibbler and four brothers, Aubrey Barbour, Sherman Carnahan, Elliot Carnahan and John Carnahan also preceded Mrs. Campbell in death.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Kerns Chapel Church in Stringtown with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jimmy Bruce will officiate. Burial be at Kerns Chapel Cemetery.
