Mearl Monro Hanna, 90, of Rainier, Wash., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia, Wash.
Mr. Hanna, one of 13 children was born Dec. 4, 1919 in Harviell, Mo. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, where he was awarded a Purple Heart; and was a retired contractor and carpenter.
On April 3, 1959 he married Alma Mary Stanton in Tenino, Wash. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2004.
Survivors include four children, Ben Ray Hanna and wife Margie of Bakersfield, Calif., Harold Wayne Hanna of Las Vegas, Nev., and Diana De La Torre and husband Gilbert Martin and Bobby Hanna and wife Celeste Peabody all of Rainier, Wash.; and 48 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
His parents, William Franklin and Ismodell Phelps Hanna, a son, Ralph Hanna, and 12 brothers and sisters also preceded Mr. Hanna.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 11th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, July 12th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
