Melton Hubert Barksdale

Melton Hubert Barksdale, 62, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away in his home, Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Melton was born on February 10, 1964, to Marvin and Martha (Hudgens) Barksdale in Orlando, Florida. He married Barbara Parent on April 2, 2009, in Mesquite, Texas.

Melton was a very hardworking and driven individual. He proudly served in the United States Army for 4 years before beginning his career as an over the road truck driver. Melton loved the open road and had great appreciation for all the beautiful places he traveled through. Melton enjoyed watching baseball and football, as well as playing video games in his spare time. His greatest joy was simply relaxing with family and friends.

Melton is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Barksdale; daughter, Jennifer (Gene) Green; two stepchildren, Aaron (Mandy) Wiley and Matt Nunes; three brothers, Dane (Carol), Chris, and Phillip (Adrian) Barksdale; sister, Lisa (Brian) Dodd; eleven grandchildren; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Melton was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Amy Pursch.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 10:00-11:00am at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Randy West officiating. Burial will take place at Sparkman Cemetery.
