Mildred Lee Sims, 94, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Sims was born Feb. 15, 1921 in Qulin, Mo. to the late Charles O. and Ada Wiggs Petty. She was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center and was a homemaker. Mrs. Sims enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her family, cooking and gardening. She also served as a "Grandmother" for the second grade class at Eugene Field School for many years.
On Dec. 6, 1938, she married Lemuel "Bud" Sims in Effingham, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth (Ray) Easley, of Qulin; four grandchildren: Teresa (Kenney) Earls, Dawna (Jim) Bader, Kenneth (Sandy) Urich and Polly Hillis; 11 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Danny Urich also preceded Mrs. Sims in death.
Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff with the service time following at 1 p.m. Missionary Eddie Griffith and granddaughter, Dawna Bader will officiate. Burial will be at Kinsey Cemetery.
