Mildred R. (Clemons) Sweat

Mildred Rene Sweat, 89, of Poplar Bluff passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at Glendale Gardens Nursing and Rehab Center in Springfield.

Ms. Sweat, daughter of the late John and Maggie (Hornbeck) Clemons, was born June 15, 1926 in Poplar Bluff. She retired after many years as a pharmacy tech at Kneibert Clinic. Mrs. Sweat enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, gardening, flowers, and collecting elephants and butterflies.

Survivors include two children: John Brown of St. Louis and Janet (Brian) Umbenhower of Nixa; four grandchildren: Tim Haile, Angie Haile, Sarah Umbenhower and Josh Umbenhower; six great-grandchildren: Hunter Dodson, Hallen Haile, Wyatt and Colton McGaughey, Bella Umbenhower and Jenson Hodge; two nieces, Diane McDermont and Joylynn Wheeling; and a nephew, Kim Wheeling.

Three brothers, Louis Clemons, Harvey Clemons and Fred Clemons and two sisters, Juanita Wheeling and Gertie Valach also preceded Ms. Sweat in death.

Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral following at 1 p.m. The Rev. Bill Orr will officiate. Burial will be at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
