Mildred Marie Wiedner, 84, of Wappapello, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mildred, the daughter of James Lloyd and Stella Jewell (Clifton) Johnson, was born Oct. 10, 1935, in Poplar Bluff. Over the years she worked as a waitress, a factory worker and a store clerk and only last year decided it was time to retire, much to the amazement of her family. Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and loved socializing with everyone she met. She loved to cook, working in her yard as long as health permitted and word puzzles. The harder the puzzles the better she liked them.
Mildred was married to James Shepard, who preceded her in death. She later Allen Black, who also preceded her in death. Mildred's third husband, Charles 'Chuck' Wiedner preceded her in death in 1998.
Survivors include her children, Douglas (Denise) Shepard of Lake St. Louis, Ronald Shepard and Gail Marie Shepard of Wappapello and Vicki (Ron) Nixon of St. Charles; a stepdaughter Deb (John) Luxem of South Dakota; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Four brothers also preceded Mildred in death.
A visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, with the funeral service following at 12 p.m. Pastor Richard Blagg will officiate. Interment will be at Qulin Cemetery.
