Milton Roy Taylor, Sr., 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Taylor was born on December 15, 1937 in Malden, MO to the late Johnny and Ruth (Duncan) Taylor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who proudly served aboard the USS Hawk and had retired from the Poplar Bluff School System. Mr. Taylor was a member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the deacon board. He enjoyed singing in the choir, exploring the outdoors and mechanical work.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pauline (Brown) Taylor; a sister, Melissa Fultz of Chicago, IL; and a brother, Sheldon Taylor of Little Rock, AR. He also leaves to mourn six daughters: Ellen Dorris, Brenda Johnson, Paula Taylor and Constance Taylor, all of Poplar Bluff and Mildred Clegg and Janice Taylor both of Indianapolis, IN; five sons: Everett Brown and Milton Taylor, Jr. both of Poplar Bluff, Johnny Taylor and Edward Taylor, both of Indianapolis, IN, and Isaac Taylor of Cameroon, Africa; a grandson who he raised, Demetrius ""Sean"" Taylor; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at New Home Missionary Baptist Church in Broseley, MO, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Morocco Cemetery.
