Myrna M. Kearbey Mayo

Myrna M. Mayo, 74, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Myrna was born Jan. 21, 1939 in Poplar Bluff. She gave her heart and life to The Lord as a child. Blessed with musical talent, she began playing the piano at a number of churches. Myrna played for the Little Brushy Quartet, radio programs as well as weddings and funerals. Her passion for helping others made her well suited to serve as a pastor's wife for many years. Myrna enjoyed accompanying and singing with her children at revivals and church services. She was a homemaker and hostess to missionaries, evangelists, church members and friends. Myrna was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where she played the piano, taught Sunday School, was a Vacation Bible School Director and led the WMU (Women's Missionary Union). Because of her spiritual guidance and generous spirit she will live on in the hearts of all she met.

On July 12, 1957, she married Brother Donald W. Mayo in Poplar Bluff. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her daughter, Jeannie M. Wilkins and husband, the Rev. Jay Wilkins; two sons, the Rev. Steven D. Mayo and wife, Sandra and the Rev. Roger D. Mayo and wife, Malissa; six grandchildren: Jennifer M. Collier and husband, the Rev. Matthew Collier, Youth Minister Jason D. Wilkins and wife, Emmali, Ashley E. Mayo, M. Malinda Mayo, Ryan D. Mayo and Jasmine M. Wilkins; three great-grandchildren: Walter and Abigail Collier and Harvey Wilkins; a sister, Elizabeth Suedmeyer of Afton, Mo.; two brothers; Elder Homer D. Kearbey and wife, Carolyn of Colorado and David E. Kearbey and wife, Linda of Elkland, Mo.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, H. Douglas and H. Marjorie Kearbey and one sister, Mary Jane Sheehy.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel with her son, the Rev. Roger Mayo officiating. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County.
