Myrtle P. Grobe, 94, of Memphis, Tenn. formerly of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at the Signature Health Care and Rehab Center in Memphis.
Mrs. Grobe was born Oct. 7, 1915 in Datto, Ark. For many years she was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff where she served as secretary for the Dorcus Sunday School Class. Mrs. Grobe was a homemaker, and a member of the Missouri Pacific Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
On Oct. 7, 1938 she married Louis Grobe in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Turner and husband Johnny of Bartlett, Tenn. and Paula Bausworth and husband Jim of St. Louis; and four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Grobe was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Flossie Augusta (Deaton) Wheetley, son, Louis Carl Grobe, daughter, Janet Carol Grobe, sister, Beulah Brase and brothers, Harold Wheetley, Bernard Wheetley and Jay Wheetley.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the small chapel of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Jim Freedman officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
