Nancy Lou (Markham) Porterfield

Nancy Lou Porterfield, 81, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff passed away peacefully into the arms of Christ on May 23, 2012
at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. following a brief illness.

Born on July 22, 1930, Mrs. Porterfield was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School and had been a life-long resident of Poplar Bluff until a year ago when she moved to the Kansas City area. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The greatest joys of her life were taking care of her family and the strength of her faith.

On Nov. 10, 1951, Mrs. Porterfield married Harold R. Porterfield. Married for 56 years, he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2008.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherri, of Liberty, Mo., and her son, Doug and wife Laurie of Glenwood Springs, Colo. and four grandchildren, Elyse Anderson and husband Matt of Los Angeles, Calif., Ashley Porterfield of Greeley, Colo. and Collin Porterfield and Heather Porterfield of Glenwood Springs, Colo.

In addition to her husband, her parents James E. and Malissa Markham of Poplar Bluff preceded Mrs. Porterfield in death.

A Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31st at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1st at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father David Coon officiating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
