Nathanial C. Conover, Jr., 78, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Conover was born Jan. 16, 1932 in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and had retired from John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Conover was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time with his family, singing gospel songs, where he was well known for his deep bass voice, archery and beekeeping.

On Feb. 3, 1961 he married Frances L. Owens in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include his sons, Michael D. Conover and wife, Aimee, Paul B. Conover and wife, Hope and Jeremy D. Conover and wife Nicole, all of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Meghan Little, Madyson Little, Ashlee Conover, Victoria Conover, Xavier Conover and Katelyn Conover; sister, Fern Saulsbery and husband, Buck of Ft. Smith, Ark.; and brothers, Eddie Conover and wife, Bonita of Poplar Bluff and Calvin Conover of Sedalia, Mo.

His parents, Nathanial Coburn Conover Sr. and Essie Mayme Wingate Conover and son, Stephen Mark Conover preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Chapel with Elder Charles Saulsbery officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Black Creek Cemetery.
