Nellie Mary (Bunn) Olson, 101, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Olson was born Dec. 11, 1910 in Wonewoc, Wisc. After her marriage, she and her husband were charter members of Grace Lutheran Church, in Elroy Wisc., where she served as the Treasurer and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Olson was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff, and a former member of L.W.M.L. (Lutheran Women's Mission League) and Zion Quilter's. She was a lifetime member of Poplar Bluff Garden Club, and had served as a volunteer for R.S.V.P. for 11 years. Mrs. Olson had retired as a bookkeeper in banking. She enjoyed writing poetry, and had two of her books published. She also enjoyed playing cards, needlework, reading, and in later years along with her sister enjoyed nature and traveling.
On April 27, 1935, she married Halver Sandvik Olson in Mauston, Wisc. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1965.
Survivors include her sister, Ilaha Bunn of Poplar Bluff; a niece, Janis Banks and husband, John of Poplar Bluff; a nephew, James Bonn and wife, Jennifer of Northpoint, Fla.; and several other nieces and nephews.
Her parents, George Harvey and Dolly May (Santas) Bunn, a sister, Leora Pearl Hashek, and two brothers, Elvin Roland Bunn and Merlin Jesse Bunn also preceded Mrs. Olson in death.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with Pastor Marty Reed officiating. A graveside service and burial will be at Plymouth Cemetery in Juneau County, Wisc. at a later date.
