Nemo W. ""Bud"" Kassing, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Westwood Hills Health and Rehab Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Kassing was born June 8, 1927 in Monroe, Ill. He was a member of South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church, and had retired in 1990 as a sheet metal worker with Westinghouse Electric. Mr. Kassing was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII. For his service he earned and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Kassing enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting military memorabilia and flower gardening.
On April 27, 1957, he married Jacqueline ""Jackie"" Harper at St. George's Catholic Church in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include 4 children: David Kassing of Tucson, Ariz., Laura Milligan and John Kassing and wife Angie all of Poplar Bluff and Linda Pfeil and husband Charles of Antonia, Mo.; 9 grandchildren: Jaime Miller and husband John, Shawn Kassing and wife Lisa, Sara Reed and husband Mitch, Megan Pfeil, Matthew Kassing and wife Kristy, Andrea Kassing, Natalie Hodge and husband Brian, Ben Pfeil and Tyler Aldridge; 7 great-grandchildren: Ashlyn Miller, Ryan Miller, MaKenna Kassing, Katelyn Kassing, Teagan Kassing, Mason Reed and Gavin Kassing.
His parents, Walter and May Luttman Kassing and brother, Charles Nevois preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service with full military honors will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. with Rev. Keith Luke officiating.
