Norman F. Maddux, 81, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Maddux was born February 18, 1929 in Oglesville, Mo. He was a retired mail carrier for the U S Post Office and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and reading. Mr. Maddux was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a paratrooper.
On March 10, 1950, he married Alma Elise Goff in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Lynn Maddux and Debra Padgett and husband Glen, all of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren, Krista Salyer, Matthew Sparkman, Christian Salyer and wife Casey, Jason Padgett and wife Suzy, Nathan Padgett and wife Angela and Joshua Yarbrough whom they helped raise; three great grandchildren, Nikki Padgett, Avery Padgett and Courtney Padgett; three sisters, Almira Vinson and husband Hack of Poplar Bluff, Claudia Vineyard and husband Dale of Ohio, and Carolyn Moore and husband Ronnie of Poplar Bluff, one brother, Jesse Maddux and wife Joyce of Calif.
Mr. Maddux was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Maudie (Martin) Maddux; a daughter, Jacquelyn Yarbrough, one brother, Mark Maddux and two sisters, Pat Aud and Flossie Wilson.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the City Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Aud officiating.
