Nova Arlene Pratt

Nova Arlene Pratt, 94, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015.

Mrs. Pratt was born Feb. 18, 1921 in Hogan, Mo., to Elzie and Clara Odessa Swaringim Sherrill.

On Nov. 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to the father of her children, Lewis E. Pratt. He preceded her in death in April, 2008.

In her early adult years, Mrs. Pratt was a homemaker and "stay-at-home" Mom. She later retired from, the Baptist Home in Ironton, Mo., before moving back to Poplar Bluff, where she continued to work as a seamstress. Mrs. Pratt enjoyed singing, being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She also enjoyed being involved in Church as a member of various Landmark Missionary Baptist Churches in the Poplar Bluff area.

Left to mourn her passing are her children: Clara Deters, of Poplar Bluff, Vernon Pratt (Darlene), of Comanche, Okla., Nova Montgomery, of Poplar Bluff, Charles Pratt (Sue), of Sterling Heights, Mich., Barbara Mannon, of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Brenda Resnik (Dan), of Poplar Bluff. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Ann Bennett, of Rogers, Ark.; and two brothers, Bill Sherrill (Carol), of Farmington, Mo.and Leroy Sherrill (Marie), of Lake City, Fla.

Also preceding Mrs. Pratt in death are one son, Edward Pratt, one daughter, Betty Jane Pratt, one great granddaughter, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation for Mrs. Pratt will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A visitation will begin from 10 a.m. Monday at Cole's Funeral Chapel, 210 E. Reynolds St., in Ironton with the funeral following at 12 p.m. with Bro. Lloyd Steinshouer officiating. Burial will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park.
