Odell Hastings

Odell Hastings, 72, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, July18, 2015 at Southeast Health Center in Doniphan.

Mr. Hastings, son of the late Bill and Robbie (Tyler) Hastings, was born May 9, 1943 in Butler County. He was of the Christian faith. Mr. Hastings retired after 20 years as a meat cutter with Safeway Groceries and along with his wife owned and operated Carolyn's Fashions in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Hastings loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding horses and team roping.

On Sept. 4, 1960, he married Carolyn Elledge in Poplar Bluff. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two children: Judy Schremp of Poplar Bluff and Steve Hastings of St. Louis; two grandchildren: Dusty Stroud and Jennifer Campbell both of Puxico; three great-grandchildren: Colton Stroud, Gracie Campbell and Brylee Campbell; two sisters: Mary Greenwood of Paducah, Ky. and Betty (Herman) Prenzel of Poplar Bluff; and a brother, Jim (Christine) Hastings of St. Clair.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hastings was preceded in death by a son, Scottie Odell Hastings and two brothers, Hezekiah Hastings and Randy Hastings.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel with his brother-in-law, the Rev. Ted Elledge officiating and his grandson, Dusty Stroud assisting. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
