Olen Guinn Myers

Olen G. Myers, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Myers, the son of the late Oren T. and Thelma (Williams) Myers, was born April 18, 1932 in Van Buren, Mo. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Myers was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1973 after proudly serving over 20 years. He was employed with M & A Electric Power Coop for over 43 years. Mr. Myers enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking.

On March 10, 1951 he married Mary Grant in Vienna, Ill. She preceded him in death Dec. 5, 2003.

Survivors include two children, Cathy (David) Carter and Sheri Pessin of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren, Christopher David Carter, Caty Rose Carter, Cathybeth Carter, Jon Pessin, Maddy Pessin and Sally Pessin; two great-grandchildren, Mary Margaret Carter and Owen David Carter; two brothers, James D. Myers of Paducah, Ky. and Paul David Myers of Escondido, Calif.; and two sisters, Elaine Rentfro of Vienna, Ill. and Mary Ellen Quay of Poplar Bluff.

A sister, Doris Stonebreaker preceded Mr. Myers in death.

The visitation will begin at 10a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Brandon Spain will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at City Cemetery.
