Opal Fern Cook, 84, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Cook was born June 12, 1929, in Pilot Knob, Mo., to Frances Lee and Martha Ann Foster Camden.
Opal and her husband, Cloyd had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 23, 2013. They were married in St. Louis, Mo. in 1948.
Mrs. Cook attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and had worked at Lucy Lee Hospital as a Certified Nurse's Assistant in previous years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing crossword puzzles, reading and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Cloyd Cook of the home; children: Gail Black, of Willard, Mo., Cloyd Cook Jr. (Betty) of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Lindell Cook and Judy Jones (Larry) all of Augusta, Ga., and Amanda House (Daron) of Poplar Bluff; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Bates (Harry) of DeSoto, Mo., and five sister in-laws; Opal Faye Camden, of House Springs, Mo., Mary Lois Hamann, of St. Charles, Mo., Willadene Fulkerson, of Jackson, Mo., and Marilyn Camden and Rose Camden both of St. Louis, Mo.
In addition to her parents, three children, James Ray Cook, Keith Alan Cook and an infant son, eight brothers, Anthony, Ralph, Harvey, Norbert, Eugene, Jake, Charles and Billy Dean Camden, and a sister, Wilma Choma preceded Mrs. Cook in death.
Visitation will be from 6 ? 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the funeral chapel with Pastor Matt Johnson officiating, and assisted by Chaplin Bill Orr. Interment will follow at City Cemetery.
