Ovella Bounds Shirrell

Ovella Shirrell, 85, of Wappapello, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Shirrell was born Oct. 13, 1927 in Wappapello. She was a Charter Member of Little Brushy Church at Wappapello, and had retired from Florshiem Shoe Company. Mrs. Shirrell enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter and great-grandchildren, her church and church family, gardening and bowling.

On Sept. 8, 1951, she married George Shirrell in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1986.

Survivors include her son, Kenny Shirrell and wife, Tina, of Poplar Bluff; a granddaughter, Heather Jones and husband, Justin, of Oran, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Parker Jones.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel at Wappapello. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be at Little Brushy Cemetery.
