Paul E. Divine

Paul Eugene Divine, 68, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Divine was born Feb. 26, 1941 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith, and had lived his entire life in Poplar Bluff except for time served with the U. S. Air Force in Biloxi, Miss. during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Divine began his working career with Southwestern Bell Telephone and later retired from AT&T after 36 years of service. He was also a member of the Amvets. Mr. Divine enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, gardening and especially enjoyed going to the coffee shop to gossip with his friends.

On Sept. 2, 1961 he was married to Brenda Whitener in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include his sons: Rusty Divine and wife Sherri of Poplar Bluff and Steve Divine and wife Michelle of Northville, Mich.; grandchildren: Cyndi and Mason; step-grandchildren: Paige and Colby; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, Ebbie and Ella (Koch) Divine, sisters, Pansy and Betty and brothers, Lewis, Bud and Bob preceded Mr. Divine in death.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 2 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with the Rev. Lester Galbraith officiating.
