Paul Raymond Tibbs

Paul Raymond Tibbs, 85, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at John J. Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.

Mr. Tibbs was born April 14, 1924 in Butler County. He was of the Pentecostal faith, and had retired as a self-employed auto body repairman. Mr. Tibbs enjoyed being outside, gardening, fishing and hunting.

On Nov. 29, 1980 he married Virginia N. Darnell in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include 7 children: Jerry Tibbs, Terry Tibbs, Ricky Tibbs, Melba Sparkman and Marsha Davis all of Poplar Bluff and Sharon Hutchison and Barbara Graham, both of Littleton, Colo. ; 3 step-children: Billy Joe Lutes of Naylor, and Jerry Edmundson and Mark Jones, both of Poplar Bluff; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Marie Mitchell of Henderson, Tenn., Ruth Bettingfield of Rogersville, Ala. and Edith Beard of Ariz.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday in the Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Bruce officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
