Pauline Ruser Alcorn

Pauline R. Alcorn, 85, of Valley Park, Mo. formerly of Poplar Bluff passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at Cape Albeon Senior Living Community in Valley Park.

Mrs. Alcorn was born Oct. 28, 1927 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff and was a homemaker. During her earlier years Mrs. Alcorn worked as a proofreader for the Daily American Republic. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also loved gardening, flowers, bird watching and feeding the birds.

On Nov. 23, 1957, she married Ernest M. Alcorn in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1997.

Survivors include her children: John Alcorn (Lisa) of Naperville, Ill., and Rosemary Barry (Christopher) of Ballwin, Mo.; three grandchildren: Allie Barry, Caroline Barry and Matthew Barry; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, John D. and Margaret Whalan Ruser, sisters, Wilma Lowry and Dorothy Shields and brothers, Russell Ruser and Willis Ruser also preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Roy Sherfield officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
