Pauline Grace (Bottens) Cope

Pauline Grace Cope, 84, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Cope was born Feb. 1, 1928 in Hancock County, Ill., the sixth of twelve children. She was of the Baptist faith, and had retired after 20 years as a secretary at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. After her retirement Mrs. Cope served as a volunteer at the hospital for another 20 years. She enjoyed her work as a volunteer, and crocheting afghans.

On Nov. 25, 1950, she married Robert Franklin Cope in Pocahontas, Ark. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2000.

Survivors include her son, Robert W. Cope of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Hazel Marie Polchaire of Oaklawn, Ill., Louise Spruill of Nashville, Tenn., Opal Hamilton of Springfield, Ill. and Elizabeth Sallee of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; three brothers, Edward Bottens of Cape Coral, Fla., Raymond Bottens of Coal City, Ill. and Ronald Bottens of Elmhurst, Ill.; and three sisters-in-law, Edna Walker of Poplar Bluff, and Annabell Vick and Rosemary Fisher both of Trinity, Tex.

Her parents, Everett N. and Lucy I. Gomer Bottens, son, Michael Ray Cope, a sister and three brothers also preceded Mrs. Cope in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Robert Cope officiating. Burial will be at Fairdealing Cemetery in Fairdealing, Mo.
