Pauline Agnes Rains

Pauline Agnes Rains, 94, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Rains, the daughter of the late Charles and Ruby Kearbey Scott, was born July 15, 1922 in Poplar Bluff. She was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School as well as Bluff Business College. Mrs. Rains was a member of the Wappapello Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church choir and a former Vacation Bible School superintendent. Mrs. Rains had retired as bookkeeper for Rains Livestock, which she and her late husband, Herschel owned and operated for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed music, singing and being outdoors.

On Sept. 13, 1941, she married Herschel L. Rains in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2013.

Survivors include her children; Sue Rains Rollins (Don) of Springfield, Mo., Joe Rains (Joan) of Bethel, Mo., Lynn Rains of Piedmont and Ray Rains (Donna) of Wappapello; 10 grandchildren: Scott Rollins, Angie Buch, Larry Joe Rains, Wesley Rains, Kim Henderson, Kevin Rains, Allison Coach, Lisa Mitchell, Matt Rains and Mike Rains; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Rains; and two brothers, Ronald Scott and Gene Scott all of Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel with Rev. Ralph Mayes officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
