Pauline N. ""Piney"" Yantis, 89, of Chesterfield, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 after a long battle with Alzheimer 's disease.
Born December 27, 1920 in Prestonsburg, Ky. to the late James Henderson and Octavia Brown Nunnery. She graduated from Prestonsburg High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University.
On June 30, 1942 she married Fordyce McDonald ""Don"" Yantis in Shelbyville, Ky. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2003.
Surviving are her children Frank Stuart Yantis and Donna Jeanne Yantis of St. Louis and Carol Ann Rhodes of Benton, Ill.; grandchildren: Jamie Doran and Brian Schwartz of St. Louis and Craig Yantis and wife Tanya of Carl Junction; great grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Benjamin Doran, and Coleman, Connor and Emery Yantis; a sister, Eula Mae Brock of Harlan, Ky.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Her parents, James H. and Octavia (Brown) Nunnery and two sisters, Minta Rebecca Burke and Ava Nell Shepherd preceded her in death.
The family will receive and visit with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hunter, MO.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or a charity of ones choice.
