Peggy Lou Tinsley, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Tinsley was born April 8, 1929 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and Ladies Aid Quilting. After many years of service Mrs. Tinsley retired as head cook at Eugene Field Elementary School. She was also a member of the Poplar Bluff Democratic Women's Club. Mrs. Tinsley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In May 1950, she married Harold Ray Tinsley in Piggott, Ark. Mr. Tinsley preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2011.
Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Merriman and husband Gene of Poplar Bluff and Carol Cruthis and husband Stan of Little Rock, Ark.; a grandson, John-Marc Merriman and wife Shawn of Hollister, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Tinsley Merriman and Chloe Merriman; and a brother, James Walker of Poplar Bluff.
Her parents, Luther and Anna (LaBrier) Walker, sisters, Elizabeth Oltman and Shirley Stone and brother, Burrus Walker also preceded Mrs. Tinsley in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Keith Luke officiating and Deacon Cecil Brake assisting. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Dwayne Foster officiating.
