Peggy Bea (Brown) Yarbro

February 28, 1928 — May 14, 2012

Peggy Bea Yarbro, 84, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, May 14, 2012, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Mrs. Yarbro was born Feb. 28, 1928 in Poplar Bluff and grew up in the Big Island Community of Butler County. She was of the Protestant faith, and was a homemaker. While her children were growing up, Mrs. Yarbro was active in the P.T.A. and the 4-H Club. She enjoyed raising her family and strived to make her home everyone's home: cooking, having a big garden and canning or freezing what she grew, and taking the time to make holidays and family gatherings have a special meaning. Mrs. Yarbro enjoyed being organized and lived her life by the Golden Rule, ""Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"".
On Aug. 18, 1944, she married Clint Yarbro. Mr. Yarbro preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2005.

Survivors include three children, Genelda Cornelison of St. Louis, Mo., Markel Yarbro and wife Shirley of Poplar Bluff, and Kathy Hayes and husband Brian of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Melissa Brydels and husband Dave, Kari Gutjahr and husband Jeff, David Locke, Brian Miller and wife Mindy, Courtney Tucker and husband Mike, Mark Allen Yarbro and wife Laura Jane and Kyle Kurka and Whitney Kurka; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Juanita ""Tilley"" Yarbro of Poplar Bluff and LaNelle Shelby of Sacramento, Calif.

Her parents, Bea and Leatha (Brackin) Brown, son, Allen Yarbro; brother, Van Buren Brown; and a special friend, Everett Miller also preceded Mrs. Yarbro in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel with The Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will follow at Qulin Cemetery in Qulin, Mo.
