Phyllis Trout, 84, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 29, 2026. Born on July 27, 1941, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Phyllis spent her youth in Poplar Bluff before building a life defined by family, competition, generosity, and a warm, positive attitude. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Trout.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Felicia Douglas, and husband Sid of Lee's Summit; and her son, Gil Trout, and wife Julie of Wichita, KS. Affectionately known as "Mimi," she was the heartbeat of her family. She is survived by her three grandchildren: Katie Davis and husband Turner of Lee's Summit; Drew Douglas of Kansas City, MO; and Nate Trout of Wichita, KS. Her legacy continues through her two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jack Davis. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Donna Wade, of Holden, MO, and several cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins: Jennifer McFillin, Mike Webb, Geana Chaligoj, Ray Amyx, Jana Phillips, Carol Gillette Mayer, Noah Jenkins, and Parker Jenkins.
Phyllis was an avid sports enthusiast who never missed a chance to play or watch a tennis match. She held a lifelong passion for tennis and was an ardent fan of basketball, rarely missing a chance to cheer on the Three Rivers Raiders. When she wasn't watching a game or on the court herself, she was often found at a Bridge table or enjoying card games with her close-knit circle of friends and family. In her later years, she cherished being surrounded by numerous friends in her John Knox Village Retirement community. A seasoned traveler, her favorite destination remained the Rockbridge Rainbow Trout Ranch-a place deeply rooted in her family history and where she felt most at home.
Phyllis will be remembered for her sharp wit, her competitive spirit, and the unwavering love she had for her Missouri roots and her family.
