Ralph Hargrove

Ralph Hargrove passed away at his home in Poplar Bluff after a brief illness. He met his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the age of 102 years, 7 months, and 1 day.

Mr. Hargrove was born Sept. 3, 1908 to Claude and Laura Potillo Hargrove in Poplar Bluff. He lived and farmed for many years in Qulin, Mo., where he was a member and a deacon of the Osborn General Baptist Church. After moving to Poplar Bluff he managed the Star Service Station before retiring in 1972. The two great joys of his life was being with his family and studying the Bible.

On Aug. 24, 1929, he married Beatrice Lenora Hager. She preceded him in death in 2003 after 74 years of marriage.

Survivors include their 5 children, Bonnie Ryan and husband Jim of Poplar Bluff, Teddy Hargrove, Sr. and wife Peggy of Qulin, Mo., Peggy Ann Black of Poplar Bluff, Tommy Hargrove and wife Wanda of Barnhart, Mo., and Brenda Sandlin and husband Roy of Pevely, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

His parents, 2 sisters, Geraldine Black and Alma Lee Osborn, 5 brothers, Harold, Lester, Kenneth, Harry and Claude ""Buck"" Hargrove, 2 grandchildren, Jimmy Drew and Darryl Hargrove as well as 2 son-in-laws, Rip Black and Cleo Drew and a daughter-in-law, Syble Hargrove also preceded Mr. Hargrove in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel with Bro. Calvin ""Buddy"" Ham, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
