Ramona Katherine Young

Ramona Katherine Young, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., was born into eternal life Friday, Aug. 17, 2018 at Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Ramona, the daughter of the late Thomas Orville and Lydia Katherine Magrum Smith, was born Dec. 13, 1938 in Qulin, Mo. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, and had retired after 33 years of teaching 3rd and 4th grades, first in Qulin schools and later in Poplar Bluff schools. Ramona loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, cooking, crocheting, needle work and working with children.

On June 11, 1960, she married Thomas Odell Young in Qulin. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth Dale Young (Linda Waldron-Young) of Wichita, Kans. and Preston Odell Young (Stephanie Rohlfs-Young) of Ballwin, Mo.; five grandchildren, Lucas, Samuel, Julia, Travis and Grant Young; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ramona was preceded in death by three sisters, Jean Ray, Betty Shannon and Ann Smith.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church, with a Celebration of Ramona’s Life following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Steve Patterson will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church or to The Alzheimer’s Association.
