Raymond Howard Lassen

Raymond Howard Lassen, 88, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Lassen was born Nov. 10, 1923 in Ripley County, Mo. After graduating from Grandin High School he made his home in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Lassen was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a member of Wesleyan Sunday School Class. He worked at Gamblin Lumber Co. for a number of years where he eventually became owner. After his retirement in 1988, Mr. Lassen enjoyed volunteering at his church and at the Child Concern Center.

On Oct. 18, 1945, he married Laura Gay in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on March 21, 1997.

Survivors include his brother, Marvin Lassen and wife Bertha of Moline, Ill.; sister-in-law, Marge Lassen of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; nieces, Shirley Gusta of Eldridge, Iowa, Deborah Lassen of Davenport, Iowa and Sherry Bewley of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and special friend, Kitty Britton of Poplar Bluff.

His parents, Roy and Lillie (Myrick) Lassen and brother, Luin Lassen also preceded Mr. Lassen in death.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. David Huck will officiate. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
