Rena Bell (Resnik) Blanton

Rena Bell Blanton, 83, of Fair Grove, MO, formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.

Rena was born Aug. 13, 1929 in Stringtown, MO to John and Olga (Kurz) Resnik. For the last four years she had lived with her only child, a daughter, Helen Louise Waggoner and husband, Robert in the Springfield, Fair Grove, MO area.

Rena died from complications of foot and leg amputation and heart problems. She was a hard worker all her life, even up until she was 78 years old, and never knew a stranger. Her family and many friends will dearly miss her.

On May 25, 1958, she married Dewey E. Blanton in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1990.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen Louise Waggoner and husband, Robert; grandson, Robert ""Robbie"" Waggoner, Jr. and wife, Tanita; granddaughter, April Smith and husband, Bill; great-grandson, Preston Waggoner; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Waggoner, all of Fair Grove, MO.

Her parents, John and Olga Resnik and her only brother, Marvin J. Resnik preceded Mrs. Blanton in death.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3rd at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
