Richard W. Landers, Jr., 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Landers, the son of the late Richard W. Sr. and Edna Crozier Landers, was born Nov. 19, 1929 in Morehouse, Mo. He attended Fellowship General Baptist Church and had retired from the Commercial Vehicle Division of the Missouri Highway Patrol. Mr. Landers was a member of Masonic Lodge 209 in Poplar Bluff, a member of I.O.O.F. and had proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He loved to spend time outdoors with his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On Sept. 4, 1949, he married Kathryn R. Hart in Morehouse. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Richard William Landers III and his wife, Claire Robertson Landers of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Kathryn Gilmore and her husband, Trey, Sam Landers and his wife Jessica and Molly French and her husband, Nate; two great-grandchildren, Lucy Landers and Rylee Gilmore; and a brother, Bobby D. Landers of Sikeston, Mo.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with a Celebration of Life following at 1 p.m. The Reverend Byron Beck will officiate.
