Richard Phillips, 75, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.
Mr. Phillips was born June 25, 1935 in Stonefort, Ill. He was of the Baptist faith, and had retired as a truck driver for J. B. Hunt Transporting Co. Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge, V.F.W. and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball and fishing.
Survivors include eight children, Doris Jean Hicks, Karen Mae Pelton, Pamela Yvonne Brooks, Ann Marie Baldwin, Daryl Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Jeffrey Phillips and Javan Phillips; three step-daughters, Tracy Risley, Catherine Hembree and Betty Cain; 11 grandchildren, Dallas Caldwell II, Mary Jane Caldwell, Timothy Barnes, Jr., Kathy Phillips, Cory Pelton, Shanda Pelton, Eva Marie Cox, Debrah Cox, Brittany Langford, Shelby Parker and Zachary Parker; five step-grandchildren, Charles Peck Bruce, Jacob Jennings, Makayla Cain, Madison Cain and Megan Staley; three sisters, Lucille Hausser and Jo Jett both of Poplar Bluff and Carol Lovell of Ellington; two brothers, Edward Phillips of Fisk and Herschel Phillips of Poplar Bluff; and a special friend, Hazel Bone of Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral Chapel with the Rev. Greg Gilberto officiating and the Rev. Jim Schremp assisting. Burial with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
