Robert William "Bill" Gourley

Robert William “Bill” Gourley, 62, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Bill was born May 31, 1954 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Protestant faith and had retired from Poplar Bluff Municipal Utilities. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, reading, history and listening to music. He was also an avid outdoorsman and loved camping and deer hunting.

On Oct. 10, 1975, he married Sarah “Sally” Trotter in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include his son, Joshua (Alisa) Gourley of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Adam Goodman and Jalissa Gourley; a sister, Dena Hodge of Moscow, Tenn.; and a brother, Dale Hodge of Wayne County, Mo.

His father, J. W. “Bill” Gourley, his mother, Mildred Eye Gourley Hodge and his step-father who raised him, Bill Hodge also preceded Bill in death.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.
