Robert L. Lawler, 81, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, July 22, 2011 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Lawler was born Aug. 29, 1929 in St. Louis, Mo. He had retired as a computer designer for Insearch Corporation in Dallas, Tex. Mr. Lawler was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded a Korean Service Medal W/1Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a Merit Unit Command 2D Award. He enjoyed sports and pistol target shooting.
On July 5, 1964, he married Corrine Becotte in Zion, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mary Katherine Sharp of Park Hills, Mo. and Norma Jean Bishop of Ferguson, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Edwin Francis Lawler, Sr. and Emma E. Birdnow Lawler and several brothers preceded Mr. Lawler in death.
The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with Pastor Paul White officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
