Robert Leonard Layne

Robert Leonard Layne, 59, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away, Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Layne was born Jan. 1, 1954 in Poplar Bluff. He was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School Class of 1971 and attended 2 years of college. Mr. Layne was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church and had worked as a construction inspection engineer for Mathis and Company in Poplar Bluff until his illness. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to St. Louis Cardinal's baseball games and hunting.

On April 8, 1978, he married Brenda Thompson in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

A daughter, Addie Layne of Springfield, Mo. also survives Mr. Layne.

His grandparents who raised him, Leonard and Myrtle Kearbey Peters preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel with Rev. Richard Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County.
