Robert J. Ruble, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Robert, the son of the late Joel Albert and Desi Moss Ruble, was born Oct. 31, 1935 in Gads Hill, Mo. He was a member of First Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and was a self-employed contractor. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and loved taking care of his wife and family. He enjoyed playing music and singing and had played for many funerals. Robert also sang with the gospel group, Telegraph Gospelaires.
On June 19, 1955, he married Patricia Worley in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Robert is also survived by two children, Kathy (Larry Hada) Owen and Robert M. (Marcia) Ruble of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Chris Ward, Brian Ward, Misty Andrews and Christie Payne; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bruce Pete (Cathy)Ruble of Piedmont, Mo., Rick (Vivian) Ruble of Charlotte, NC, Charles (JoAnne) Ruble of Pleasant Hill, Mo. and Keith (Teresa) Ruble of Vulcan, Mo.; six sisters, Patsy (George) Howard of Piedmont, Helen (Ron) Hughes of Farmington, Ruth (Bud) Clark of Piedmont, Hazel (Ron) Hopkins of Dix, Ill., Sandy (Robert) Phelps of Annapolis, Mo. and Judy Koehr of Vulcan; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Ruble of Piedmont.
Robert was also preceded in death by his step-mother that raised him, Mable Ruble Clark, a daughter, Julie Scott, a granddaughter, Amy Kingery, a sister, Betty Biezer and two brothers, Jack Ruble and Jimmy Ruble.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel with Rev. Bruce “Pete” Ruble officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
