Robert Charles Schimweg

Robert Charles Schimweg, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Robert, the son of the late Henry A. and Loretta Helen Colvin Schimweg, was born Jan. 9, 1936 in St. Louis, Mo. He was of the Catholic faith and had retired as a self-employed contractor. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching football and baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

On May 14, 1962, he married Arlene M. Rogers in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2012.

Survivors include three children: Nancy Reich and Robert T. Schimweg of Poplar Bluff and Sandra Skyles of Memphis; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry J. “Hank” Schimweg and John J. “Jack” Schimweg of St. Charles, Mo.

Two brothers, Donald R. Schimweg and Vincent A. Schimweg also preceded Robert in death.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. Father William Hodgson will serve as Celebrant.

Inurnment will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
