Robert L. Sutton

Robert L. ""Bob"" Sutton, Sr., 83, prominent businessman of Poplar Bluff, died unexpectedly Sunday Nov. 12, 2006 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Sutton was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of the First Christian Church, and the owner and operator of Sutton Real Estate and Loan Co., in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Sutton was a member of the Poplar Bluff Rotary Club, the Three Rivers Board of Realtors, the Missouri and National Association of Realtors, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

On Aug. 11, 1956, he married Ramona Rhodes, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Janna Dooley, of Poplar Bluff and Laura Stafford, of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Robert L. Sutton, Jr., of Poplar Bluff; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, with Dr. Steven Williams officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
