Rodger M. Walters

Rodger M. Walters, 49, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, March 18, 2011 at his residence from unexpected complications from cancer.

Mr. Walters was born Dec. 19, 1961 in Kennett, Mo. He was a cab driver for City Cab Co. in Poplar Bluff, and had served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Walters enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Elsie (nee, Rodgers) Walters of Poplar Bluff; and four sisters, Gloria Jean Evans of Kennett, Mo., Nancy Ann Smith and Rita E. Walters both of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Patricia D. Bobo of Lilbourn, Mo.

His father, Joseph Henry Walters and a brother, Joseph Wayne Walters preceded Mr. Walters in death.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center, 501 South C St. in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating and the Rev. Ted Elledge assisting. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
