Rogers Lee Ward, Sr., 51, of Poplar Bluff, MO formerly of Mississippi, departed this life on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Rogers, son of the late Lonzo and Jessie L. Ward, was born June 30, 1965 in Sidon, MS. He graduated from Leflore County High School and later served in the U.S. Navy, where he received an honorable discharge in 1989. Mr. Ward joined Hyman Chapel at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Green.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Joyahmil Field; nine sisters, Catherine Kelly of Chicago IL, Fannie (Clyde) Smith of Quito, MS, Clara Gilbert of Memphis, TN, Martha Ward Williams, Lilly Ward Outlaw, and Betty Jean Outlaw all of Milwaukee, WS, Vera Tribit and Corine Ward of Greenwood, MS and Eva Clark of Ittabena, MS; seven brothers, Lonzo Ward, Jr. of Pickens, MS, Clazer Ward of Quito, MS, Curtis Outlaw of Aberdeen, MS, Edmund Williams, Henry Ward Williams, Lee Outlaw and Jack Outlaw, all of Milwaukee, WS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Two children, Torrey Shaffers and Robert Lee Ward, Jr. also preceded him in death.
Inurnment of ashes with full military honors will be at noon Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
